The legally required documentation for marriage unfortunately differ from country to country. Generally, we need following documents:
Passport Birth Certificate (Long-Form) Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage – This document must not be older than 6 months prior to your wedding Divorce Decree Absolute (if you are divorced) Death certificate (if widowed) Change of Name Deed (required if you have changed your name) All documents must be original or notarised copies (Birth Certificate, Decree Absolute, etc…)
All of the above mentioned documents issued by the home state of the engaged citizen and the translations MUST BE LEGALISED for use in Czech with a so-called “APOSTILLE” stamp. This is in accordance with the Hague Convention on the legalisation of foreign public documents.
All of above documents can be scanned and sent by e-mail. The original / notarised copies must be sent via registry post (or by DHL/UPS/FedEx/PPL) to our office no later than 30 days prior to the wedding day.
Symbolic weddings:
You may already be civilly married but want a ceremony in a beautiful location or to renew your vows on a special anniversary. There is no documentation required for a symbolic wedding. We naturally organise symbolic weddings with the same attention to detail and seriousness as any legal civil or religious ceremony.
